Key Mandates and Activities:

Technology Assessment and Demonstration:

On-Farm Testing: KVKs assess the location-specific applicability of agricultural technologies under various local farming systems.

Front Line Demonstrations: KVKs conduct demonstrations on farmers' fields to establish the production potential of new and improved technologies.

Capacity Development:

Training: KVKs provide training to farmers, farm women, and rural youth to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural practices.

Extension Personnel Training: KVKs also train field-level extension workers from government, private, and voluntary sectors to enhance their technical expertise.

Resource and Knowledge Center:

KVKs act as knowledge and resource centers for agricultural technologies, supporting public, private, and voluntary sectors in the district.

Production and Supply:

They produce and supply quality technological products such as seeds, planting materials, and bio-agents to farmers.

Extension Activities:

KVKs organize various extension activities like field days, Kisan Melas, and use media (publications, websites) to create awareness about improved technologies.

Farmer-Led Innovations:

KVKs identify and document successful farmer-led innovations to encourage their wider adoption.

Support to Other Initiatives:

KVKs coordinate with ongoing government schemes and programs related to agriculture and allied sectors.
